Meet the Team

Matt Scott

Co-founder and Chief Product Officer

Matt is an award-winning journalist who started his career as an Actuarial Associate Consultant at Aon where he studied towards the professional exams of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and completed an MSc in Actuarial Finance at Imperial College Business School.

As Insight Editor of Insurance Times, Matt reported widely on the UK general insurance market, focusing particularly on the financial and regulatory landscape. He has authored many well-respected research publications including the annual Insurance Times Top 50 Insurers and Top 50 Brokers reports, and spoken at a number of industry events on topics including motor insurance, regulation, cyber insurance, customer service, and financial performance.

Matt is a keen martial artist and football fan, and when not in the office he can often be found enjoying the countryside of Dartmoor near his native Plymouth.

Dan King

Co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer

Dan has worked in media and market intelligence businesses for more than 25 years. He’s launched and developed brands including Health Insurance, Insurance Times, and Fairer Finance. And, more recently as publisher of StrategicRISK and Global Reinsurance

He first worked with Matt at Insurance Times, and it was here that he helped to develop a new insurer and MGA ratings system based on broker opinion. 

Away from work, Dan lives in South London and is often found traipsing around the country following his beloved Plymouth Argyle FC.

Danielle Harvey

Head of Marketing (Fractional)

Danielle is an experienced digital & subscriptions marketing specialist, with more than 25 years of experience. She has a proven track record in all areas of marketing – from strategy to implementation. In the last 12 years, Danielle has supported multiple B2B clients as a fractional marketing consultant.

Outside of work, Danielle is Hertfordshire-based and spends most of her time with her family.  She is a keen quizzer, early morning swimmer and also creates poetry gifts as a side hustle.

Laura Sharp

Head of Design

Laura has worked in print and online media for more than 20 years, spending the first half of her career in London at the design and sub-editing desks of a variety of lifestyle and business titles, including Insurance TimesStrategicRISK and Global Reinsurance.

She then moved to Kansas City, US (for love!) where she now works as a designer full-time. She was delighted to rejoin the insurance family and come on board with Dan and Matt to design for Insurance DataLab.  

Outside of work, Laura is either at the gym, running around after her two children or diving into her latest self‑inflicted creative challenge – most recently, teaching herself wallpaper design.

Simon Mabb

Board Advisor

Simon brings over three decades of experience in the UK insurance market, with a strong track record of leadership across commercial broking, distribution and strategic growth.

He has built extensive experience across a range of insurance roles, developing deep expertise in client service, market dynamics and operational leadership. Simon played a key role in the growth of one of the UK’s leading independent brokers, helping scale the business to handle over £100m in premiums while maintaining a strong focus on customer outcomes and service quality.

Simon was also a co-founder of Booking Protect, an insurtech business focused on refund protection. He helped scale the company and played a key role in its successful sale to a global, private equity-backed insurance business.

More recently, Simon has held senior regional leadership positions and moved into advisory roles within the sector, supporting businesses on strategy, performance and navigating an evolving, data-driven regulatory environment.

Simon is passionate about how data and insight can be used to improve decision-making, enhance customer value and drive better outcomes across the insurance ecosystem.

Robin Crumby

Board Advisor

Robin is a serial entrepreneur with hands-on experience in starting, managing and advising high-growth subscription-based businesses via non-Exec Board positions, leadership roles or investment.

Based in London, Robin co-founded Melcrum in 1996, a research and training business, acquired in 2015 by NASDAQ-listed Corporate Executive Board, now part of Gartner. Since then, Robin has co-founded Novatum Group, Kademy, Renewd, FounderSherpa and is a Board Advisor at TMT Finance and Structured Credit Investor.

Robin is a regular speaker and writer on entrepreneurship with a book on ‘Founder Exit’ in the works. He graduated from Bristol University, holds a Diploma in European Business Administration from UWE and was Entrepreneur-in-residence at Bayes Business School.

Robin is also the author of The Hurst Chronicles and Blake Harris book series, plays field hockey and enjoys tennis and messing around in boats.

Julian Rose

Board Advisor

Julian is an information industry entrepreneur who works as an investor, non-exec and advisor to several media and events businesses. He is also the founder of subscription businesses including Chemical Watch, which he and partners grew with bootstrap finance prior to their exit in 2020.
