Insurance DataLab is expanding its longstanding partnership with Insurance Times to become the data partner for its annual Top 50 Brokers report, starting with the 2026 edition later this year.
The partnership will bring new data and analysis to one of UKGI’s most respected broker reports, adding greater insight into how broking businesses are performing across growth, profitability and productivity.
Insurance DataLab has provided the underlying data for the Insurance Times Top 50 Insurers report since 2021. This expanded relationship will now see our data used to support and develop its broker-focused rankings.
Insurance DataLab co-founder Dan King said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Insurance Times on one of the industry’s most established and respected reports. The Top 50 Brokers report has always provided an important benchmark for the UK broking market and, by combining annual revenue data with our unique financial performance ratings, we can add a new dimension to the analysis.
“For the first time, the report won’t just show who the biggest brokers are, but also provide insight into how they are performing – looking at growth, profitability and productivity – as well as highlight some of the fastest growing businesses in the market for an even richer picture of the strength and performance of the UK broking sector.”
A broader view of broker performance
The Insurance Times Top 50 Brokers report ranks the largest brokers in UK general insurance, primarily based on revenue generated by their UK operations.
Alongside the main ranking, the report includes analysis of key market trends, broker-focused features and business profiles covering areas such as leadership and business strategy.
The 2026 report will build on this established format by incorporating Insurance DataLab’s financial performance data and Broker Performance Ratings. This will allow the analysis to look beyond the size of each business and explore the underlying performance of brokers across key financial measures.
It will also provide an opportunity to recognise high-performing firms throughout the market, including businesses that may not be among the largest brokers but are delivering strong financial results, with an in-depth analysis of the results of the 2026 cohort of Insurance DataLab Gold Award winners.
Insurance Times content director Katie Scott said: “Insurance DataLab is a fantastic business that takes the integrity and analysis of its collated data incredibly seriously. Its thoroughness, accuracy and attention to detail make Insurance DataLab the idyllic partner for our broker focused report.
“We have been working with Insurance DataLab for five years now on Insurance Times’ Top 50 Insurers report and have been consistently impressed with how the business delivers and collaborates.
“The firm is a joy to work with and I very much look forward to extending our partnership to cover the Top 50 Brokers report this year and into the future.”
