Our latest research has revealed Somerset Bridge Insurance Services as the best broker in UKGI after an analysis of the financial performance of more than 100 firms in our Broker Performance Report 2025, published in association with BIBA and sponsored by SSP.
Somerset Bridge Insurance Services receives a Broker Rating of 79%, claiming its first Gold Award after a remarkable rise of almost 30 percentage points on last year’s score.
Based on our proprietary formula, devised specifically for this research, Insurance DataLab rates broking firms across three key pillars – profitability, growth and productivity – with the top performers all receiving an Insurance DataLab Gold Award.
This year’s list of award winners also includes RAC Financial Services (78%), JCB Insurance Services (74%), Dayinsure.com (73%), Roanoke International Brokers (72%), General Insurance Brokers (UK) (71%), Avantia (69%), Jensten Group (67%), One Call Insurance Services (66%), and Aon (UK) (65%).
These firms have demonstrated exceptional performance across profitability, growth, and productivity, setting the benchmark for the UKGI market.
UK Brokers Hold Firm Amid Market Shifts
After reaching historic heights in 2024, this year’s results offer a more nuanced picture.
The average Insurance DataLab Broker Rating for 2025 stands at 53.3%, slightly down from last year’s record of 53.7%, but still comfortably ahead of 2023’s 52.5%.
This slight dip in overall rating comes amid a softening market and growing costs of compliance, which are likely dampening some of the momentum seen in previous years. Yet the headline figures still reflect a resilient sector that continues to perform strongly across our three key pillars.
In his guest column for the report, BIBA chief executive Graeme Trudgill says he’s pleased to see improvements in profitability compared to 2024. He also explains how BIBA is working with government to help improve opportunities for growth across the broking market after this measure fell by two percentage points.
“Growth is a topic BIBA has been working on closely with the government, through ongoing engagement with the City Minister and her team,” he said.
“We have put forward 21 ideas that we believe present great opportunities to make changes that will elicit a better environment for growth.”
